About Civil Draft

Hello fellow engineers and welcome to Civil Draft, the official Real Civil Engineer Trading Card Game!

A fully playable game with cards designed by real artists, that celebrate 5 years of my channel and contain many references to the videos I have created in that time. I hope you enjoy seeing how many references and secrets you can spot, and of course have fun playing and collecting them. Maybe you'll even find a super rare blueprint card!

Peace, Love and Civil Draft

HOW TO WIN

Be the first player to place down and build 3 Objective cards!

icon

TURN ORDER

  1. Draw 1 card
  2. In any order (optional):
    - Place Engineer/Objective/Location cards into play
    - Use or attach Item cards to Engineers
    - Use Architect cards
    - Place Material cards onto Objective cards
  3. Use Engineer cards to perform an action (Attack/Build)
  4. Upkeep: Tap/Untap any Engineer cards as required.

If a player is holding more than 6 cards at the end of their turn they must discard cards of their choice until they have no more than 6 cards in their hand.

YOUR DECK

Suggested 25 card deck layout:

  • 3x Objective cards
  • 4x Engineer cards
  • 6x Item cards
  • 2x Location cards
  • 9x Material cards
  • 1x Architect card

Card Rarities

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Blueprint

It is recommended to have a similar # of Rare+ cards as your opponent.

But Civil Draft is about engineering the perfect deck to defeat your opponents, so feel free to experiment, but remember to win you must build 3 Objectives! A minimum of 3 Objective cards and an Engineer card capable of building them (including the required materials, or item cards that can substitute materials) are required in a deck.

COMBAT

Attacking

Engineers can be used to both attack other Engineers and Objectives, and to defend the Objectives. The attacking Engineer(s) combined Attack stat must be equal to or larger than the Health stat of the opponent's Engineer/Objective it is attacking.
A coin flip is required to determine if the attack is successful when attacking an Objective, but not required when attacking Engineers.
The attacking Engineer card misses one turn after launching an attack whether it is successful or not.

Tapping

When an Engineer is required to miss a turn it is considered “tapped”. While tapped, the player cannot use that engineer to perform an action.

  • Attacking: tapped for 1 turn (rotate 90 degrees)
  • Building an Objective: tapped for 2 turns (180 rotate and turning 90 degrees each turn)

Discarding

Once a card is used/faints it ends up in the discard pile, except for used Architect cards. When there are no remaining cards in a players deck, the discard pile is shuffled and used to draw cards from for the remainder of the game. This process can repeat as many times as necessary to complete the game.

Card Types

icon

ARCHITECT

The most destructive cards in the whole game, they will often make an engineer’s life terrible (just like in real life!).
Architect cards can be played at any during your turn. Once these cards are used they are PERMANENTLY discarded, so put them in a separate discard pile!

icon

ENGINEER

The main card that can either build Objectives or attack other Engineers and Objectives.

These cards have 3 main stats: Attack, Build, and Health. Each Engineer card can be buffed with Item cards to temporarily improve their stats. Engineers can attack other players’ Engineers and Objectives, they can also be attacked and faint. There is no limit to how many Engineers can enter the playing field per turn, and once they do so they can perform an action immediately.
Each Engineer has a specific material speciality allowing 1 less material to be used when building Objectives with that engineer.

icon

ITEM

These can make or break a deck. They can attach to Engineers to make them stronger and more useful. Once used it must be discarded. An Engineer can hold up to 2 Items at once. You cannot swap items between Engineers, but you can discard an Item during your turn and apply another Item from your hand to the Engineer.

icon

LOCATION

These are cards that can affect the rules of the game for every player. These cards will always be in play unless either a Location is played to replace it or an Architect is used to remove it. These cards affect EVERYONE playing the game, including the player who played the card, every single round (unless stated otherwise).

icon

MATERIAL

These are used to build the Objective. These are crucial to have in your deck, as you cannot build an Objective without the required materials, and you cannot win without building the Objectives!

icon

OBJECTIVE

The main focus of the game is to get your 3 Objectives built before the other players, do this and you win the game! Objectives can only be built once the requirements are met:

  1. The Build stat is satisfied by the Engineer card(s) attempting to build it. You can combine multiple Engineers (and their Build stats) to build an Objective.
  2. All the required Material cards are placed below the Objective card. These may be placed in standby even if it is not enough to build the Objective, but cannot be moved once placed.

Once BOTH quotas are met, the player can attempt to build the Objective with a coin flip to determine if you are successful. If you are successful, the Engineer card(s) should be placed on top of the Objective and miss 2 turns - construction takes time after all! They may not be attacked while building. If you are not successful, the Engineer card(s) do not miss a turn. Whether you succeed or not, the materials are discarded.

WARNING: Unbuilt Objectives can be attacked by other players! Engineers can attack in play Objective cards as long as the following criteria is met:
- Objective is NOT currently being built
- No defending Engineers in play
- The Engineer(s) attack stat is equal to or higher than health stat of the Objective
- A successful coin flip is performed
When successful, the Objective card and all attached Materials cards are discarded.
